This inviting guesthouse and Japanese-style restaurant/dining bar, which opened in February, 2021, is located in the hot spring resort town of Yumoto. The interesting design and layout are all the handiwork of the do-it-yourself owner, who restored the dilapidated building of a former cab company into this friendly hangout. The owner spent over a year and a half in his earlier days traveling to some 50 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and North and South America. In the course of his travels, he found guesthouses to be an enriching experience and became determined to open his own. The name “Hace” is a reference to the ryokan named Hase that his grandmother used to run in his hometown of Fukui. (It also means “to create” in Spanish.) The guesthouse rooms on the second floor range from private rooms to dormitory-style accommodations. The lively “Kitchen” restaurant on the ground floor is an ideal place to for travelers to mingle with local people while enjoying local cuisine and drink.
