FUKUSHIMA HAMADORI COASTAL AREA

Kagesuka Beach

Kagesuka Beach is a crescent shaped beach, with a pier on one side and Cape Uno-o at the other, with the cape’s lighthouse rising out of the hill-top pine groves. It is part of the Matsukawaura Prefectural Natural Park, and is popular fishing and surfing spot, thanks to the strong southern swell. One of its notable features is the geometric patterns in the sand that are created by the wind. It is also a popular date spot for local residents and visitors—during the day for its sharp contrast between the white sand beach, the pine forests, the blue sea and the lighthouse; at night as a place for viewing the star-lit night sky.
